Laurence POOLE UK, b. 1963

Poole was born in London in 1963 and now lives and works in Hastings, East Sussex. He was educated at Croydon College of Art, Chelsea College of Art & Design, Sussex College, and Brighton University Fine Art Contemporary Practice degree.

His career spans photography, interior and lighting design, product design, graphics, painting and sculpture - often blurring the parameters of these different disciplines. As well as developing designs by hand, Poole utilises the latest in 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design software. He is also an accomplished model maker, regarding scale models as a crucial phase in prototype and ideas development.

Poole often uses 'found' objects in his sculptures, including everyday products such as postage stamps, toy cars and vintage film cameras - items that evoke a certain nostalgia. Each sculpture is unique, featuring a mixture of unusual colourful and charming artefacts. The qualities that make his sculptures particularly distinctive and captivating are his witty comments on familiar objects expressed in sophisticated colour compositions.
